I used to go to thrift stores with my mother, usually to browse. Back in 2014, it was different in fact there was a negative connotation to the word thrift. However, I loved going to Goodwill after school to escape the valley heat. I loved that my mom would teach me about a certain era’s, or teach me about the history of things. Obscure items like 70’s nightgowns, 60’s kitchen appliances, and vintage makeup trends and the influence we have from them. I have her to thank for introducing me to the vintage world. Recalling- we would watch international or old films and try to guess the era and ogle at the items. The world of vintage items is vast and it has grown thanks to social media/apps. Apps: Poshmark, Depop, Etsy, and Ebay, which I firmly believe to have impacted the second hand businesses and I am also guilty (I blame Covid) of using.
Now, I am on a mission to visit local restaurants and give them the spotlight they deserve. I also visit vintage curated shops, antique/thrift stores ( FYI a lot donate to a cause) you can follow me in tiktok @ Vintagefixations (if you’d like to support there). Reselling is one of the oldest professions in history so I don’t blame it, but I value the businesses that are still standing and beating the odds. So, join me as I travel to vintage diners, curated shops, and restaurants (basically anything that has a history ) as I am on the mission to share those as well. A lot of things are connected to history and I just love to learn about it so I will definitely share what I learn. (I may write about my occasional obsessions, right now I’ve been into vintage bathroom items-don’t ask me why.)
